JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii—Inside the flooded ballast tanks of a Virginia-class submarine, where there is no natural light and spaces are tighter than shoulder-width, Royal Australian Navy divers are learning how to sustain one of the world’s most advanced undersea platforms. Although the work is gritty, technical, and claustrophobic, it represents one of the clearest signs yet that AUKUS—the enhanced security partnership between Australia, the U.S. and the U.K.—is progressing and delivering results.

Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) recently piloted a new leadership program for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) enterprise, serving as the exclusive testing ground for skilled trade employee development. After months of training, FRCE celebrated the graduation of the program’s first cohort Sept. 2, paving the way for a new, one-year development program that is now being offered NAVAIR-wide.

WASHINGTON, DC – Senior U.S., Australian and Japanese officials met recently to discuss areas for further cooperation on mutual sustainment of their naval forces. Their focus was on opportunities for expanded training, technology sharing, wargaming and exercises to continue building maritime logistics interoperability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), flagship of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3, Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – Pacific Partnership 2026 (PP26) officially began its final mission stop in Tacloban City, Sept. 18, 2026, and will run through Sept. 29, 2026, marking the third time the mission has returned to the city and the 14th time it has come to the Philippines.

MOMBASA, Kenya – Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) completed a voyage repair period aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) Sept. 10, marking the first U.S. Navy ship maintenance availability in Mombasa in recent years.
