To build new partnerships and develop accelerated warfighter capabilities, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) will host an Innovation Industry Day (I2D) — focusing on the command’s Power & Energy portfolio — on Thursday, May 14, at its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

This event — which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — kicks off a series of Innovation Industry Days that will spotlight science and technology (S&T) topics throughout 2026. The I2D is open to technical representatives from industry seeking to do business with ONR.

Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana officially announced the dates and theme for this year’s air show. Scheduled for Sept. 19-20, the show’s lineup will feature the Navy’s flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, the F-35C II Lightning Demonstration Team, and the Rhino Demonstration Team of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106, plus some of the world’s best aerobatic pilots. Two Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) alumni will lead the historic Artemis II mission on a 10-day space flight around the Moon — mission commander retired U.S. Navy Capt. Reid Wiseman and spacecraft pilot U.S. Navy Capt. Victor Glover. The target launch window opens on April 1, 2026, the first of seven possible launch days in April. Artemis II will be the first crewed lunar fly-by in more than 50 years.

The Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) TechSolutions and Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific recently hosted a virtual navigation training demonstration showcasing the Virtual Bridge and Nautical Trainer (VIBRaNT).

The event involved Sailors from Afloat Training Group Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia, and the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), which was located pierside at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California.
