Following the Afghanistan Withdrawal Special Review Panel’s recommendation and at the direction of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, the Marine Corps has upgraded valor awards for Marines assigned to Company G, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, who stood at Abbey Gate on Aug. 26, 2021.
