Establishes 5 Portfolio Acquisition Executive Organizations

Washington, DC – The Department of the Navy (DON) today announced the establishment of five Portfolio Acquisition Executive organizations: PAE Industrial Operations, PAE Marine Corps, PAE Maritime, PAE Strategic Systems Programs and PAE Undersea. With these directives, the Navy is fully engaged in making the PAE model the new operational standard for the acquisition enterprise, injecting urgency and a ruthless focus on accelerated delivery.

The Navy Exchange Service Command opened its first expeditionary Micro Market at the Keflavik Air Base, home of the Icelandic Coast Guard, in Keflavik, Iceland, on March 10, 2026. The Micro Market provides grab and go snacks, beverages and frozen meal options for U.S. military and NATO forces in the area.

Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin (DDG 89) will forward deploy to Yokosuka, Japan, as part of a scheduled rotation of forces in the Pacific. This move will be a permanent change of station for the crew and family members.

The U.S. Navy will bring more than 70 Sailors to Hawai‘i for Hawai‘i Navy Week, March 9-15, as part of the Navy Week outreach program. The Navy will partner with the communities of Honolulu and Hilo to engage residents through a weeklong series of performances, educational events, and community service projects.

BARENTS SEA – Commander, Submarine Forces officially kicked off Operation Ice Camp (ICE CAMP) Boarfish in the Arctic Ocean on March 7, 2026, after the building of the camp and the arrival of two U.S. Navy fast attack submarines, USS Delaware (SSN 791) and USS Santa Fe (SSN 763).

Bremerton, Wa. – The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) departed Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Washington, for the last time in its 51-year service history, as part of a scheduled homeport shift to Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, March 7.

SOUTH CHINA SEA — The combined armed forces of Japan, the Philippines and the United States conducted a Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MMCA) within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone, Feb. 20-26, 2026. This activity demonstrated a collective commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
